Residency Graduation

The Three Amigos (residents)
Andrew, Todd Broyles, Chris Schmidt

August 1, 2008 Andrew graduated from his AEGD Residency at Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, MO. For those who don't know, AEGD stand for "Advanced Education in General Dentistry". He rotated working with each of the specialty areas, including Oral Surgery (where he was IV Sedation certified), Pediatrics (what the Colonel thinks he should specialize in), Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, and Orthodontics (where him and another resident did braces on each other). We are so proud of him.

As I mentioned in my last post, his residency class had records in production and physical fitness. It was a really neat graduation ceremony, everything so "formal". They said after factoring the cost of supplies, the salaries of the specialists who spent one-on-one time with the residents, etc., he received about a 2 million dollar education from the Air Force. Kind of neat to think about it that way. It was a busy year, as we were only allowed time off at Christmas, but he had so many great experiences and met a lot of wonderful people. We really loved living in St. Louis!

Cooper and Gunner were spoiled with goody bags. Being the only kids in the residency has its perks.

Andrew with Colonel Beuhler, Director of the Dental Squadron.
Also LDS and a Pediatric dentist.
